If you are learning to play the piano, don’t miss this day!

Whether you have a teacher, or are learning by yourself, this day will give you insights for you to take away and develop. There is also an opportunity to perform yourself on a concert grand piano and to encourage others in their playing.

Our brief presentations are designed to open windows onto techniques and ideas which you can take away.

Inspiring presenters will take you through a journey exploring the music, the instrument, revealing their secrets. Lester Hough David Beer, Julian Hellaby John Tordoff, and staff from the University of Hull. For more information about the presenters please click here.

Meet the composers in their own world, and uncover how to interpret their music in today’s world.

Explore how you can create the sounds you want at the piano with an expert technician’s guide to the inner workings of the piano.

This event can also be your opportunity to play in front of an audience with expert support from the presenters. Students from the University Music department will be recording the performances so we hope to be able to give you a copy of your performance afterwards.

To book a slot, firstly you will need to buy an audience ticket for one or more sessions. During the booking process you will be given the opportunity to request a performance slot. Hull Piano school will then be in contact to confirm your slot. There will be a further charge per slot, slots will be allocated on a first come basis.

The grand finale of the day will be a special recital by renowned pianist Julian Hellaby.
