What is the conference for?
Join us for the Politics Conference 2026, a long-running annual event hosted by the University of Hull that brings together sixth form and college students with leading academics, political commentators and public officials.
The conference has been running for more than 20 years and is designed to showcase research and contemporary political issues that will be valuable to both teachers and students. Alongside thought-provoking sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to develop their skills in public speaking, debate and critical questioning through the popular 'There Ought to be a Law' competition and a live Q&A panel featuring public officials.
The day will begin with a welcome from Lord Philip Norton and will feature a keynote address from renowned political broadcaster and commentator Iain Dale. Students will also could explore the University of Hull campus and learn more about studying Politics at university.

Registration
Places for the Politics Conference 2026 are available via an Expression of Interest process. School and college staff wishing to bring a group should complete the online Expression of Interest form. Once submitted, the Events Team will review applications and confirm places by email, along with important event information and joining instructions.
To support participation, attending colleges can claim up to £500 towards coach travel costs, which will be reimbursed retrospectively following the event. A networking lunch will also be provided for attending staff.
The booking deadline is Thursday 22 October 2026.
