Inspired in Hull: From Astrophysics to Antarctica with Dr Nina Purvis

Would you like a personal tour of the Concordia Research Station in Antarctica, courtesy of a University of Hull alumna?
Join us for a fascinating conversation with University of Hull alumna Dr Nina Purvis, currently stationed at the Concordia Research Station in Antarctica. As the resident medical doctor and researcher working on pioneering surgery in space, Nina is living and working in one of the most remote and extreme environments on Earth.

Hosted by Dr Howard Snelling, who taught Nina during her astrophysics degree at Hull, this session will explore her journey from student to scientist and doctor, and what it’s like to live in total isolation for over a year.
“9 out of 13 months of our mission lived in total darkness and complete isolation. No way out and no resupply of food or medicine. A crew of thirteen stuck in a tin can in the middle of Antarctica on top of a glacier.”Dr Nina Purvis
Expect insights into space medicine, resilience, and the power of curiosity. Whether you're a Hull student or alumni, or simply intrigued by life at the edge of the world - this is one not to miss.
