At Hull, your degree is just the beginning. The Hull Employability Award is an additional University award that recognises the skills and experience you gain alongside your studies, helping you stand out to future employers.
Build your award through placements, volunteering, part-time work, student leadership and other experiences. Our Careers Service will help you identify the skills you've developed and use them in your CV, applications and interviews.
Current students can register, track their progress and access support through the student portal.
Complete a short skills assessment to identify your strengths and the areas you want to develop.
There are lots of ways you can work towards your Hull Employability Award. Take part in activities alongside your studies, record your achievements and build your portfolio.
Part-time work
Paid, flexible employment alongside your studies.
Volunteering
Support a charity, community group, or cause that matters to you.
Student societies
Join or lead student clubs based on shared interests, hobbies, or join a sports team.
Student Ambassador roles
Represent the University through Open Days, Campus Tours, outreach activities, and other events.
Placements and internships
Gain valuable work experience and develop professional skills in a real-world setting.
The Hull Employability Award is open to all current University of Hull students, including undergraduate, postgraduate, mature, and part-time students. You can register and start tracking your achievements from day one.

The Hull Employability Award is one of the many ways we help students prepare for life after university. Alongside placements, internships, careers support and real-world learning opportunities, it's part of our wider commitment to helping you succeed.

Current students can register for the award and access everything they need, including support from the Careers team, through the Hubble student portal. If you'd prefer to speak to someone, you can also visit the Careers team in Hubble Central on campus.
Almost any extracurricular activity qualifies. This includes part-time jobs, volunteering, student rep roles, running a society, or completing online development courses.
