Early steps for a smooth arrival
As your arrival date approaches, there are a few things to tick off your list. Getting these sorted early will help you focus on all the exciting moments that Freshers Hull has to offer.
Sort your TV Licence
If you plan on watching live TV or using BBC iPlayer in your room, you’ll need a TV Licence. Find out more and order yours on the TV Licensing website.
Review your personal possessions insurance
All our accommodation comes with basic cover for your personal possessions, but it's unlikely to cover any high value items like musical instruments, high-spec laptops or professional sports equipment. You may want to consider extra cover if needed.
Look into student bank accounts
While you probably already have a bank account, student accounts often offer extra perks. Take some time to research the best options for you.
Register with a doctor
Register with a local GP and sort out any prescriptions. International students in Hull can also access the NHS healthcare system by registering with a local GP. This allows you to receive medical treatment at no extra cost, provided you pay the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application.

Book your arrival time slot
We’ll send you an email with details on how to do this from our Accommodation Hub.
Start as you mean to go on – on time
Arrive on time and follow the directions on campus to park in a designated spot near your accommodation if you’re coming by car.
Documents at the ready
Have a paper or digital copy of your accommodation contract ready to show our team so we can get you moved in as quickly as possible.
Pick up your keys
Pick up your key from the desk at your accommodation and unload your belongings. If your family or friends are staying a while, move your car to a designated car park.
Get unpacked
Start settling in by getting your room set up just the way you want it, with the help of any family or friends.
Stock up on groceries
Remember to pop to the Spar mini-supermarket on campus to fill your cupboards.
