When should I start going to university Open Days?

You should start attending university Open Days in Year 12 (England & Wales), S5 (Scotland) or Lower Sixth for most students. This gives you plenty of time to research your options before UCAS applications open. Many students attend their first Open Days between spring and autumn of Year 12, then revisit their shortlisted universities in Year 13.

Most universities release Open Day dates several months in advance, so it’s helpful to start looking from March onwards. Visiting earlier means you can compare universities, explore different subjects and feel prepared before making your final choices for your UCAS application.
