Student finance through Clearing: what do I need to know?
Applying through Clearing doesn't stop you from receiving student finance. Whether you've already applied or still need to, it's important to apply or update your details as soon as possible so your funding is ready for the start of your course.
Do I need to wait until my place is confirmed?
No. You don't need to wait until your university place is confirmed before applying for student finance. Applying early can help avoid delays, and if your university or course changes through Clearing, you can update your application later.
What if I haven't applied yet?
Apply for student finance as soon as you can. It can take several weeks for Student Finance England to assess your application, so applying early is recommended.
If you apply later in the admissions cycle, you may still receive initial payments while your application is being fully assessed.
Does Clearing affect my student loan?
No. Going through Clearing doesn't affect your eligibility for student finance. If your university or course changes, simply update your Student Finance England application with your new details.
When will I receive my funding?
If your application has been approved, your first Maintenance Loan payment is usually made shortly after you enrol at university.
If there are delays with your student finance, the University of Hull may be able to offer short-term financial support while your funding is being processed.
