Can I use AI to write my personal statement?

You may use AI tools to help you generate ideas or organise your structure, but your personal statement must be written in your own words. Universities routinely check for AI-generated and plagiarised content, so use AI as a helper – not a ghost-writer.

If plagiarism is detected, UCAS will notify all the universities you’ve applied to, and your application may be withdrawn or rejected. Always write authentically and cite any sources you use.

For more guidance, read our UCAS personal statement guide or check out our upcoming workshops.
