Can I transfer to the second or third year of my course?

Yes - this is an option for most of our Undergraduate courses. You can apply to transfer into the second or third year of a degree at Hull, provided your previous or current university studies align closely with the content of your chosen course and there is space available.

Transfers are assessed on a case-by-case basis to make sure your completed modules and credits match our course structure.

How to apply for a transfer to the second or third year at Hull

  1. Contact our Admissions TeamGet in touch as your first step. We will check whether your previous study is suitable for advanced entry and confirm if the course has available places.
  2. Meet our entry requirements - You must meet the academic and English language entry requirements for the course and level you’re applying to join.
  3. Provide supporting documents - To assess your transfer, you’ll need to supply - Official transcripts of your completed and current modules, Detailed module descriptions or syllabi, showing what you’ve studied, A personal statement explaining your reasons for transferring and your academic goals, An academic reference from your current or most recent institution
  4. Credit transfer review - The Admissions team and academic department will evaluate your documents to decide if your credits can be transferred and what year of study you can enter.

  • Transfer offers depend on course availability, academic compatibility, and departmental approval.
  • Some courses may not accept transfers into later years due to professional accreditation or specialist module requirements.
  • You should continue attending your current course until you receive a formal offer from Hull.
