Industry-standard creative spaces

Our media lab is home to the latest digital media software and hardware used in the industry today, including fully-fitted PC and Mac design labs and studios and the fully immersive virtual reality lounge complete with a Virtuix Omni VR treadmill.

Middleton Hall provides a unique creative space including a 406-seat auditorium and industry-standard recording studios and a cutting-edge TV filming and editing suite.

The Anthony Minghella studio offers a dedicated collaborative teaching and film production space, including film sets, sound gallery, and lighting rig.

Gain real-world experience on an industry placement

Develop your CV with a work placement as part of the second year of your Media Studies course. Or take an optional year in industry as part of your Game Design degree for priceless real-world exposure with organisations from small studios to multinationals.

Industry placements enable you to develop vital knowledge in leadership and professional practice – working as professionals do in a studio or production environment, while continually refining your own individual portfolio of work.

Game Design placement opportunities include working on virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality projects for the private and public sectors.

You’ll be taught by enthusiastic, expert staff who are fans of their field much as they are academics.

Our Film and Media Studies lecturers include internationally respected Disney scholar, Dr Amy Davis, plus experts in film and media production, horror, East Asian cinema, TV drama, American animation, British cinema and Hollywood cinema.

Game and Graphic Design courses are taught by lecturers with a diverse range of industry experience – including digital media and graphic design, advertising, game design and web development. You’ll learn from experts who've worked on BAFTA-winning games and led projects across Europe.
