Why study Economics at Hull?

There are so many reasons to choose to study Economics at Hull that it's difficult to know where to begin. Here are just a few of them.

From your first steps on campus until the day you graduate and beyond, we’re always working to bring you the very best experience, which means there are loads of reasons to make Hull the place to launch your career in economics. Take a look at just some of the benefits you’ll get when studying economics at Hull:

Economics offers insights into issues such as the global economic crises, house prices, tax setting by governments and Third World debt. But you'll also learn how to apply an economist's way of thinking and analysing problems to the decisions that we all make in our everyday lives. Economics is about ‘human and organisational behaviour and choices’ covering ‘microeconomics – individuals, firms, government’ and ‘macroeconomics – the economy as a whole’.

Through this programme, you will become familiar with economic theory and models and see how these are used to interpret events and situations, explain a variety of data and forecast future trends.

While you gain the 'toolkit' of an economist, including some mathematics and statistics, the emphasis is on understanding how economics assists understanding of business issues. You can also add other subjects to your programme, depending on your skills, interests and ambitions.

And on top of all of this, you’ll get all of the other benefits that come from being a student at the University of Hull, including 24-hour access to one of the country’s best libraries, fantastic accommodation, and studying at the only Official University Partner of Team GB.*, Global Student Accommodation Indicator.
