About Student Futures

Realising your potential

Student Futures at the University of Hull provides the following information, advice and guidance to students and alumni , as well as a number of ways in which students can develop their employability, gain experience and connect with employers:


Student Opportunities

  • Students have the opportunity to network with employers at events and careers fairs and gain an insight into the workplace

  • Our Employer Mentoring Programme gives you the chance to have mentor from a workplace of interest.

  • Students can achieve a Hull Employability Award to recognise their efforts to develop their employability skills

  • The Hull Internships Programme offers paid internships with local employers.

  • Whilst studying at Hull you can spend a period of study abroad – from a short summer school to a full year at a partner University

  • Students can also undertake an overseas internship or volunteering opportunity with one of our trusted partners overseas.

  • An extensive programme of on-campus events including Jobs Fairs, employer presentations and employability workshops.

  • Students can also have practice interviews and participate in mock assessment centres.  Practice online tests are also available.

  • Many of our programmes incorporate professional and employability skills modules.

  • Unlimited, personalised advice and guidance - one-to-one careers advice and guidance with a trained, expert Careers Consultant

  • Drop-ins for quick queries

  • Help and information on finding a part-time job

  • Help with career decision-making – deciding what next

  • Advice on studying abroad - opportunities, locations, costs and any funding available

  • Advice and information on working/volunteering with one of our trusted partners overseas

  • Advice and information on setting up a business, including finance

  • Advice and information on further study

  • Advice, information and guidance on jobs and internships - and how to secure them

  • Extensive programme of workshops and presentations on campus

Our award-winning team

Our award-winning* team of Student Futures professionals work across the campus to support our students to develop their employability, connect with employers and gain the necessary experience to realise their potential. Each Careers Consultant has a subject caseload and develops extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting students who are studying the subjects they support, as well as close links with graduate recruiters in relevant sectors. Our graduates go on to work in a range of different occupations in the public and private sectors and we have a good record of helping graduates into employment at the end of their studies.
