If you need specialist technology to help with your studies, we've got a range of products to meet your needs, from screen readers to portable hearing loops.

We know that developments around coronavirus (COVID-19) are concerning and may cause disruption to your studies. Student Services remain open and as always, we’re here to help and support you.

Software

You can use this specialist assistive software on all open access PCs on campus. 

 

  • Read&Write
    Full of features to improve literacy, like a reader to hear documents aloud and a frequently confused words dictionary. Take a look at Read&Write.
  • MindView
    Mind Mapping software that helps you to visually brainstorm, organise and present ideas. Watch the video tutorials for MindView.
  • Audio Notetaker
    Make better notes by capturing audio, text and slides in a single workspace. Find out more about Audio Notetaker. You can use the mobile app to record your lectures too - download on iOS or Android. Enter your University of Hull email address here to get an access code.
  • Screen Magnifier
    Windows 10 Magnifier is installed a standard on all open access PCs. For your own machine, we can loan you a copy of ZoomTEXT. Get in touch to find out more.

  • Ergonomic Equipment
    We have back-rests and ergonomic supports available to loan. Get in touch for more information.
  • Screen Magnifier
    In addition to the standard Windows 10 Magnifier we can loan ZoomTEXT. Get in touch if you would like to know more.
  • Video Magnifier
    A Video Magnifier is available in the Brnymor Jones Library to help enlarge printed materials, enhance their contrast and change colours.
  • Wireless Portable Hearing Loop
    If you need to use a hearing loop, please let us know and we will make sure you are timetabled in rooms with them. Further information about the hearing loop can be found on this page.
