From Hull to the West End - pushing boundaries in accessible theatre
Daniel Swift MBE is a proud graduate of the University of Hull. After completing his MA in Theatre Making in 2019, he began a part-time PhD at Rose Bruford College and the University of East London, which he is now in the final stages of.
As Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Concrete Youth - an internationally recognised, multi-award-winning theatre company - Daniel has led groundbreaking work in accessible theatre. In 2024, he produced the UK’s first West End production specifically created for audiences labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
His wider work spans large-scale inclusive touring productions, arts-based research projects, and international speaking engagements. He has contributed to several best-selling books on accessible arts and continues to influence policy and practice in inclusive theatre.
Daniel’s pioneering contributions have earned him national recognition, including an MBE, and cemented his role as a leading voice in the future of accessible performance.
