Support the next generation of Hull changemakers

One of the most rewarding ways to give back to Hull is to volunteer your time, expertise and enthusiasm to help our current students and your fellow graduates. Your gift of time is invaluable.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering as a University of Hull alum offers you many benefits:

  • Stay connected: strengthen your ties to the alumni community – you never know when it might help.
  • Personal fulfilment: experience the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others succeed.
  • Networking opportunities: connect with fellow alumni, faculty, and students, online and in person, and build your personal and professional networks.
  • Skills development: enhance skills like leadership, communication and mentoring, and strengthen your CV.
  • Recognition: your contribution won't go unnoticed. Be recognised and appreciated by both students and the University.

Speak to students

Share your industry expertise to enhance our curriculum and student experience. Our students value hearing from graduates in their field and learning about their career journeys.

Events can be in person or online, allowing you to take part from anywhere in the world.

Become a career mentor

The University of Hull Career Mentoring Programme helps students build confidence and explore career options as they transition into the workplace. Our volunteer mentors, from various roles and organisations, offer advice, insights, and answer career-related questions.

  • We match students with mentors based on career interests
  • Mentoring lasts six months
  • Your meetings will take place online
  • We provide you with resources and guidance

Volunteer for our Centenary Archives Photo Project

Our extensive photo archive, housed at Hull History Centre, captures key moments in its history – from student life and research achievements to graduation ceremonies and notable figures. We need locally-based volunteers to help preserve this collection by scanning photo negatives, filing, and labelling them on SharePoint.

If you're available on Mondays, and interested in the University's history, we'd love to hear from you.
