Study Health, Nursing and Midwifery at Hull
We don't just teach the theory. We go beyond the classroom to give students the skills, experience and support to become confident and compassionate professional health practitioners.
We're passionate about making a difference
If you are too, then you’ve chosen the right place to study.
At Hull, our expert staff work with local healthcare providers to deliver a wide range of health, nursing and midwifery programmes, including Honours and Masters degrees as well as CPD courses for professionals wishing to improve their skills or develop their career.
We also offer flexible routes into nursing and healthcare for those wishing to train without formal qualifications, including the University Certificate in Health and Social Care Practice and the Alternative Route into Health and Social Care. Whatever course you choose, you’ll be learning in some of the UK’s finest facilities following our £28 million investment.
Plus, undergraduate students studying nursing, midwifery and many allied health courses will receive a bursary of at least £5,000 a year.³ This doesn't need to be paid back and is in addition to any financial support received through your student loan.

Flexible routes into your degree
As well as our traditional courses, we offer routes into nursing and healthcare for those without formal qualifications, such as our University Certificate in Health and Social Care Practice and our Alternative Route into Health and Social Care.
Many of our flexible programmes include the option to study part-time during the day or evenings and we also provide courses designed for those already working in the sector who wish to advance their practice or gain an additional professional registration.

Hands on. Career focused. From day one.
At Hull, you’ll combine classroom learning with practical experience so that when you graduate, you’ll be ready to undertake the responsibilities of a health practitioner.
Many of our courses have been developed with local healthcare providers to meet their requirements for qualified staff – such as physiotherapists, paramedics and nutritionists – so the career prospects couldn’t be better.
In fact, we're rated 100% for employability,4 with many of our graduates working for the NHS as well as in private practice, social services, the pharmaceutical industry, the armed forces, the prison service and other areas.
Learn in revolutionary facilities
Our £28 million Health Campus is part of our investment into your future and the health of people in our region. At the heart of it is the Allam Medical Building, which was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen to provide state-of-the-art training environments for our students and researchers.

Boost your career with a health apprenticeship
We work with employers to provide apprenticeships in a number of health or social care settings.
Choose from a Nursing Associate Apprenticeship, a BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) Apprenticeship or a BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice Apprenticeship.
These are delivered as a blend of campus-based classes, portfolio building, placements and self-directed study, as well as time spent with your employer.
Those interested should pursue apprenticeship opportunities with their employer as the University does not accept direct applications.

Placements that are built into your degree
Placements are a key part of our programmes. That's why we have a special team – the Placement Learning Unit – to work with our practice partners and support you while you are on placement.
We have partnerships with NHS trusts in Hull and East Yorkshire, York and Scarborough, North East and North Lincolnshire, with the private, independent and voluntary sectors, and with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

World-leading research and expert teachers
Our expert staff work closely with a number of partners to ensure our research is at the forefront of its field and benefits the health and wellbeing of the local community.
We have strong links with the NHS, charitable organisations, partner academic institutions, public representatives and industry, so you'll be trained and inspired by leaders in the field across all of our subject areas.

Our doors are always open to unclosed minds
So whoever you are, wherever you're from and wherever you want to go, we'd love to meet you.
