How to apply for a vacancy

Once you’ve found the job you want, you're ready to apply. Our online process means you can easily complete your application from wherever you are.

1

Find your job, hit apply and sign in to the online system. You'll need to register the first time you enter the portal. Once you're in, you don't need to complete it all in one go. You can save your application and go back as many times as you like. Just remember to keep a note of your username and password.

2

If you have a disability that makes the online application process difficult for you, please contact our Occupational Health team on +44 (0)1482 466010 or at occupationalhealth@hull.ac.uk

3

When all sections of your application have a tick against them to show that they're complete, a button will appear to allow you to submit your application.

4

An automatic acknowledgement will be sent to the email address that you provided. Please check this account regularly, as all correspondence related to the vacancy will be through this route.

5

We usually interview shortlisted candidates to assess their skills, experience and competence. This could involve a test or presentation. In some cases, there may also be a second interview.

6

In some cases, we may seek references before interviews. In others, we'll only do this following an offer. We will pay reasonable expenses towards the cost of attending an interview.

7

Once the interviews are complete and we've selected our ideal candidate, we'll make a conditional offer of employment. Conditions may include references and DBS checks.

8

To accept the offer, you'll need to sign and return the contract. When we've completed all the necessary employment checks, we'll confirm a start date with you.

9

If you have any queries, please contact the HR team at HR@hull.ac.uk

International applicants

To increase our world-class knowledge, stature and reputation, we're always looking to attract more international staff to the University.

You must be able to evidence your eligibility to work in the UK. But if you don't have the required eligibility, we may be able to assist in applying for a Certificate of Sponsorship.

The UKVI website provides further information about immigration, working in the UK, Certificates of Sponsorship and citizenship.
