My Sports Science undergraduate motivated me to move from Colombia to the UK back in 2015. Throughout my time in Nottingham, I qualified as a Coach in multiple sports, Personal Trainer and GP referral. I have worked for several years in elite sports including clubs like Norwich City FC and Nova Centurion SC. I also completed my MRes exploring the relationship between breathlessness and weight and perceptual differences in air hunger.
Alongside being an Exercise Oncology Researcher, I am a Health and Exercise Consultant, helping a range of people from the clinical population to world-class athletes achieve their health and performance goals.
As an AFHEA, Sebastian supports the Sports Rehabilitation students in their practical sessions. He co-delivered the Cultural Competency in Healthcare Professionals Scholarship and Special Interest Programme (SSIP)module in 2023-24.
In addition, Sebastian is an active part of the assessing panel for various Med school courses as well as an interviewer for school admissions.
I have a strong interest in exercise physiology and using it as a medicine. This includes my current work in exercise oncology looking at how exercise can modulate cancer survival outcomes and quality of life. I am also passionate about elite sporting performance., in particular endurance and team sports. Additionally, I have an interest in research around female athlete physiology and addressing the gender gaps in sport.
