Cultural Transformations: The Impacts of Hull UK City of Culture 2017

Thursday 15th and Friday 16th March 2018

As we approach the end of a phenomenal year, the University of Hull is preparing for a major conference to look back and reflect upon Hull’s UK City of Culture experience.

The conference will bring together stakeholders from the cultural and business sectors, civic bodies, funding partners, academia and representatives from local communities to examine the outcomes of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.  The conference will take a journey, setting out the starting point before drawing upon extensive monitoring and evaluation data to examine the approaches, achievements, lessons and legacies resulting from Hull’s year in the cultural spotlight.

Alongside the main conference programme there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy additional activities, including:

  • Breakout sessions on the themes of ‘Being Involved’ and ‘Culture and Communities’.
  • Pecha Kucha – rapid, image-based presentations – exploring ‘My Year’.
  • A conference exhibition displaying data art and artefacts relating to Hull UK City of Culture 2017.

The University of Hull is the exclusive academic research partner for Hull 2017 and the evaluation has been led by the Culture, Place and Policy Institute.
