The Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) is bringing together expertise from Hull York Medical School and the School of Health and Social Work to build on our existing success in globally-significant applied healthcare research.
We're doing this through a range of specialist units to help us become a centre of excellence in everything from research methodology to actual impact and outcomes. Our methods hub will be led and populated by research methodologists who are experienced in innovative applied methods design. We're setting up the Hull Health Trials Unit in collaboration with Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust.
The Institute is also home to the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre - a £2.4 million venture made possible by a generous donation from the Wolfson Foundation.
Our vision is to be a world leader in well-designed applied health research, and to conduct outstanding research of relevance to our local area. The University’s health research is already a major strength, helping to address critical health issues in our region and beyond, with 87% of the University’s research classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent'.
To continue this work, we are aiming to recruit the very best researchers to our world class facilities who will undertake globally-leading research which will focus on those healthcare needs relevant to our region and internationally to ensure Hull is at the forefront of its field.
