    This interactive session will consider the scale and form of the malaise.  It will critically evaluate current UK government approaches to Modern Slavery and posit alternative policies to prevent Modern Slavery and support its victims.

Your visit

We’ll email a QR code to you before your visit. Please keep this safe and have it ready to scan on the day. If you haven’t had your QR code a week before your visit, please speak to the person at your college who is organising the trip.

We'll also send you a This is Hull welcome video, so you know what to expect on the day and a link to download the University of Hull Soundscapes app, created by Arts students, which uses geolocation to play recordings as you walk around campus.

Make sure that you arrive at the meeting points in good time so you don't miss any sessions and keep your wristband visible at all times.

All you need to know

 Find out where to refuel and how to stay safe on campus. 

  • Parking

    Car parking is available in the Wilberforce car park (F2 on the campus map). Enter from North entrance on Inglemire Lane (for sat nav use the postcode HU6 7DF). Parking is free - please bring your ticket to us and we’ll exchange it for a pre-paid ticket. Without a pre-paid ticket, parking is £3.

  • Food and drink

    There will be a large variety of food stalls on campus around the Festival Square from 10 am-3 pm. We also have a range of indoor food outlets around campus. Food stalls and cafes will accept your £7.50 meal vouchers, debit cards and cash. Water stations are situated around the campus to refill your bottle too.

  • Staying safe

    This is Hull: Uni Life is an unstructured event, so you have the freedom to explore the campus at your leisure. We’ve asked you to register your mobile number with us so we can contact you in an emergency.

    There are four support points around campus where you can get help - the faculty meeting points and the Teacher Zone in the Basil Reckitt Lecture Theatre in the Ferens Building. Make sure you know where this is in case you need to track down your teachers.

    You can contact the event helpline on 07702 342961 at any time too.

    Fire safety

    If you discover a fire or other similar emergency you should raise the alarm by activating the nearest fire alarm point and then leave the building by the emergency exit.

    If you hear the fire alarm, which is a continuous high-pitched sound, immediately leave the building by the nearest emergency exit and go to the nearest assembly point. Staff will direct you if necessary and do not re-enter a building until told to do so.

    First aid

    First aid trained staff will be on site during the event. In the event of an accident or mishap, please seek the assistance of an event ambassador or contact the event line.

    In an emergency, please call 999 immediately, and then contact security afterwards so they can facilitate emergency services on campus.

  • Lost property

    If you lose an item or find something that you think has been lost, please speak to one of our event staff. If you realise you have lost something after the event, please ask your college to contact us.

    While the organisers take every precaution to protect visitor’s property during an event, they are not responsible for any loss or damage to property.

  • Smoking

    Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not allowed inside any building on campus. Smokers are also asked to stand away from doorways and windows.
