Our friendly admissions team will guide you through your course options, and then you can begin thinking about your accommodation. Here are 8 accommodation questions everyone going through Clearing wants to know:
Is there a deadline to book a room on campus?
Our accommodation guarantee ends on 1 October. The sooner you get in touch after accepting your offer, the higher the chance you’ll get a room you’ll love.
How quickly will my accommodation be confirmed?
After discussing your options and choosing your room type, an accommodation booking will be added to your online account. You’ll log in with your University of Hull account details and sign a contract with an electronic signature. Once that’s done, normally within 2 working days, you’re all set – no need to pay a deposit.
Is all the accommodation on campus at Hull?
Yes! All of the on-campus accommodation is within the University of Hull Campus – the three accommodation sites being The Courtyard, Westfield Court, and Taylor Court.
What are the different styles of accommodation?
We have a range of different accommodation options for you to pick from in the three on-campus sites. These include shared bathroom rooms like our 4-bed shared flats where you share a bathroom with one other person, ensuites with private bathrooms, and self-contained accommodations such as studio and one-bedroom apartments.
What size is my bed?
The bed sizes are a 4ft small (120cm x 190cm) double with the exception of the Courtyard rooftop terrace rooms and Westfield apartment/studio options that have a double (135cm x 190cm).
Will I have a TV?
TVs are within the communal shared kitchens and living spaces. TVs are not provided for bedrooms, and a TV license would be required if you decide to have one in your room.
What do I need to bring with me?
We’ll be in touch before you arrive with a list of what comes with your room and what we suggest you bring. But here are a few suggestions to get you started:
- Important paperwork – passport, driving license, letters from the University, student loan and bank details, NHS card
- Bedding – duvet and cover, pillows and pillowcases, mattress protector
- Clothing – be selective, remember that you'll still be here in the winter. And don't forget the hangers!
- Towels
- Plates, glasses, mugs, and cutlery
- Pans, utensils, and anything else that you need to whip up a good meal. We'll provide you with cooking facilities (cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle) and fridge and freezer space.
- Laptop – plus charger and extension cables
- Books and stationery
- Medicines – make sure you're stocked up with any prescribed medication and don't forget paracetamol and cold remedies
- Toiletries – you can buy most of these when you arrive, so ditch the heavy bottles and only pack the essentials
Can I have dependants in my accommodation?
All on-campus accommodation is single-person only, and there is no on-campus provision for families or dependants. The University does not offer childcare.
