Have you made a New Year resolution to make a change in your life? To explore a new career or upgrade your skills?
If that’s you – then an open day at the University of Hull this week will offer you the chance to take the first steps towards these important decisions.
The ‘mini’ open day, which takes place on Wednesday from 10am to 3pm, will offer visitors the opportunity to discuss subject choices with staff from business to biomedical science; chemistry to criminology, sport, health and exercise science to social work. There will be more than 40 stands, representing courses from business, law and politics; science and engineering; arts, cultures and education; and health sciences.
Lisa Revell, Director of Social Work, said:
“At this time of year, many people reassess where they are and where they want to be in terms of their career and life goals.
“That might be someone who is working in a fairly routine job who decides they want to explore a more challenging and diverse career path, which is intrinsically rewarding, or someone who left school a few years ago but who wants to return to education.
“For example, the students who come to study social work with us might be looking for a rewarding career where they will have the opportunity to help people, to see the difference that they can make to someone else’s life, whether it is through care and support, or ensuring individuals are protected from harm.”
