Organised by the University of Hull, in association with the prestigious Scarborough Business Awards, the event aimed at both small and large organisations in North Yorkshire and is intended to bring together industry and academic experts to challenge thinking and best practice on a range of important issues. University of Hull Vice Chancellor, Professor Susan Lea, said “we hope that the Scarborough & Coast Business Day will give organisations a great opportunity to come together to explore new ways to innovate and accelerate business growth along the Yorkshire Coast. It promises to be an informative and insightful event”.

Special guests at the event will be Lord John Prescott and David Kerfoot MBE DL and Chair of the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership who will be speaking about “Building the Rural & Coastal Powerhouse”.

In addition to this the University of Hull will be running a number of sessions throughout the day on subjects including ‘Supporting the health & wellbeing of your workforce’, ‘How to exploit digital marketing trends in 2019’ and ‘How can technology & big data improve your business’. Through these workshops the University is keen to demonstrate how organisations of all sizes and from all sectors can tap into the skills, knowledge and facilities of the University to advance their business.

Event organiser, Tracy Blundell, said: “Whether it’s about leveraging the University’s state of the art equipment including 3D printers, VR and AR technology or recruiting our student talent into your workplace, the University of Hull is keen to work with businesses in North Yorkshire to help them contribute to the economic growth of the region.”

Scarborough Business Ambassadors and their Chair, Peter Wilkinson, will also be taking to the stage as part of the day, hosting a business question time panel including previous Scarborough Business Awards finalist, Lisa Borrie and ambassadors Ed Asquith, Simon Bull and Jo Thompson, giving attendees the opportunity to put their burning business questions to this expert, local panel.
