Students at the University of Hull have ranked 18 subject areas among the top 20 in the country, for overall satisfaction in a major survey released today.
The National Student Survey is carried out every year to give final-year students the opportunity to say how satisfied they are with various aspects of university life.
This year, 70 per cent of University of Hull final-year students provided feedback on aspects of their course, teaching, resources and overall satisfaction, among other things.
Three subjects – Archaeology, Geology and Drama – were ranked first for overall satisfaction. Each received an outstanding 100 per cent satisfaction rating by our students.
Of the 18 subjects ranked in the top 20, eight are in the top 10, including American Studies, Archaeology, Italian, Drama and Geography.
Twelve subject areas were in the top 20 for teaching, including Media Studies, Sports Science and Geology.
The results include all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Results from the survey show:
- The University achieved an ‘overall satisfaction’ score of 84%.
- Three subject areas are ranked first in the country for overall satisfaction
- Twelve subject areas have overall satisfaction scores of 90 per cent and higher
- Thirty three subject areas have an overall satisfaction score of 80 per cent or above.
The survey also shows that students gave positive results for teaching on their course, learning resources, learning opportunities and also NHS practice placements. Students felt library resources were exceptional in supporting their studies, with this question scoring four per cent higher than the sector-wide average – in the top 14 per cent.
