If you want to be a primary school teacher – and you’ve already got a relevant foundation degree (or similar level 5 qualification) – this part-time 18-month course allows you to ‘top up’ to a full Honours degree.
You’ll be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on successful completion of the course.
Usually taught on Tuesday evenings, the course is a mix of lectures, workshops and tutorials. You’ll tackle a combination of academic and practical elements – including two assessed school placements. You’ll be required to spend at least 120 days in a school.
You’ll complete two assessed school placements, working towards the standards required for a qualified teacher. You’ll get chance to plan, prepare and deliver extensive teaching programmes in two schools. You’ll also assess, record, report and analyse pupils’ progress, as well as critically reflecting on your own performance and professional development.
