Faculty of Health Sciences The Neonate: Newborn and Infant Physical Examination Continuing Professional Development Individual module Level of study Please select a level How to apply What you'll study This module will build on previous knowledge and experience of the care of the healthy neonate and the role of the midwife in promoting independent family life. The aim of the module is to support students to identify factors that predispose the neonate to ill health, recognise deviations from normal health status, and to initiate appropriate monitoring, care and referral for the compromised or sick neonate. Students will undertake education and practice to become qualified in The Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination of the Newborn (NIPE). The aim will be to equip students with the knowledge and skills to underpin the comprehensive newborn examination incorporating NIPE screening elements (PHE 2016). Starts in: Duration: September 24 weeks (2 semesters) 6 weeks of theory 2 days per week. Practice component to be completed by March 2019.
