What you'll study

The module is built around the application of key principles and theories from biology, chemistry and physics to health and the body. It is designed for students who wish to gain confidence and skill in the application of scientific knowledge to health and social care practice.

Students undertaking the course attend an introductory session held at the university and thereafter access the course each week via a web-based virtual learning environment. In addition the students are required to attend a group tutorial in the middle of the semester which gives the opportunity for discussion and exam preparation.

Each week students are directed to new interactive materials to guide their learning around a distinct science-based topic. The course is assessed via a 2 hour written exam. The module is part of the University Certificate in Practice Skills for Health and Social Care programme of study.
