This module has been developed to meet the increasing demands of education within Advanced Practitioner roles within the healthcare environment. The module aims to provide the student with extended knowledge understanding of the theoretical underpinning for which to provide effective patient care within the outpatient clinical setting.

The module forms part of the gastroenterology degree level pathway but is suitable for practice within all areas of healthcare to gain critical awareness of the need for clear, accurate and concise information retrieval to efficiently and effectively determine appropriate assessment and management strategies for individuals. It will equip the student with the necessary knowledge and critical understanding of the role of the healthcare professional within the outpatient setting and such a role can contribute to service provision and delivery.

The module will be facilitated by a variety of clinicians, highly experienced nurses and other allied health professional with extended experience within this area as part of the continued commitment to the inter-professional learning agenda within the university. It is recognised that there is considerable benefit from shared learning alongside other disciplines within the healthcare arena.
