What you'll study

Designed primarily for international students, this module provides the opportunity to gain some practice experience within the local health services. The practice allocation will be for 1 day per week over two semesters (24 days in total). It is considered likely that this module will only be of interest to international students undertaking the MSc Health Studies or Post Graduate Diploma. However, the module is also available to home students.

Students undertaking this module are likely to be senior clinical staff with considerable clinical experience. Clinical placements will need to be suitable for senior students and will take the form of an attachment to a particular member of staff, rather than to a ward or unit. In this way, for example, a student who has worked as a respiratory care specialist would be placed with someone undertaking a similar role in one of our local hospitals. The placement will be effort-focussed rather than time-focussed so that you and your supervisor will be able to negotiate attendance. It will not be necessary to attend for a specific number of hours. Clinical placements will be negotiated with the relevant PLFs and recorded on the Faculty's NTS database.
