Faculty of Health Sciences Pathophysiology for Critical Care Practice Continuing Professional Development Individual module Level of study Please select a level How to apply What you'll study The module is intended to increase knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiological processes of critical illness. The module will provide the practitioner with a robust understanding of physiology in order to make well informed clinical decisions when caring for critically ill patients. Study days are alternate weeks of semester 2, usually Thursdays, 6 study days in total, the module usually runs alternate academic years, and assessment is by unseen written examination. Entry requirements This module is available as a standalone module at level 6 or as part of the BSc in Critical Care and the MSc in Critical Care. Students enrolling on a programme as opposed to a standalone module will have to meet the programme’s entry criteria. Prospective students should have some prior understanding of anatomy and physiology at level 5. This module is compulsory for the MSc in Critical Care and must be studied first. If the module has already been completed as part of another programme then an alternative level 6 critical care module can be studied in its place.
