Summary

Jen is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Wilberforce Institute, University of Hull. Her current research focuses on the reintegration and sense of belonging experienced by rejected Namibian asylum seekers who have returned to their communities. Jen recently completed her PhD, which explored the complex realities faced by women in the UK after escaping modern slavery and human trafficking. Her work is deeply rooted in a commitment to social justice, with a particular emphasis on the rights and experiences of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

Research interests

Jen's research interests span a broad spectrum of critical issues, including modern slavery, human trafficking, immigration, asylum, and the nuanced concept of agency and belonging. She is especially focused on the intersections of these issues with gender, motherhood, and intersectionality, seeking to understand how these factors shape the lived experiences of those affected.
