Summary
Geoff Gibson began teaching English in Sierra Leone after leaving university in 1978 and spent the next 25 years teaching English to non-native speakers around the world.
He taught a variety of students, from secondary school pupils to undergraduates, before joining the University of Hull in 2001.
Previously, he worked as a lecturer and teacher trainer for the British Council at the University of Debrecen in Hungary where he set up and co-ordinated an award-winning distance learning MA in Applied Linguistics.
