Postgraduate applications

We’re working through our postgraduate applications as we speak...

We’ve received a huge number of postgraduate applications this year. We are reviewing them as fast as we can, but it might take longer than expected to get back to you.

You should hear back from us within 5 to 6 weeks. In some cases, we have to make extra checks – such as on your work experience – which may delay your application.

We appreciate this may be longer than you expected, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. The University of Hull is an incredibly popular choice this year, and it’s taking a little extra time to work through the high volume of applications received.

But please rest assured that as soon as we’ve reviewed your application and made a decision, we’ll be in touch with you. In the meantime, here are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Library exterior
  • I submitted my application a few weeks ago, when will I hear if I have a place?

We are currently working at a turnaround time of 5-6 weeks. In some cases applications have to go through additional checks, e.g. on work experience, which may cause additional delays. We will keep you updated with the progress of your application via email and updates are also available through your online application account.

  • I’ve submitted a new application, how long will it be until I hear back?

We are currently working at a turnaround time of 5-6 weeks. In the meantime, please make sure you have provided all the information about your previous qualifications and any pending qualifications, any references and personal statement information, and that all the information on your application is correct and up to date. You can manage your application through your online application account.

  • I uploaded or emailed documents that were requested in order to progress my application. When will these be reviewed?

Thank you for completing the request for information. We’re reviewing documentation as quickly as we can, which is usually within 2 weeks of receipt. You’ll get an update on the progress of your application via email and through your online application account.

  • I’ve just received my degree or other qualification results – what should I do?

Please upload scanned or clear copies of your certificates/verified results to your application using your online application account.

Our admissions team will review your application and progress as necessary.

  • I have tried to upload documents in the MyHull portal, but the link was missing so I was unable to do it – what should I do?

You’ll need to contact our admissions team directly – just send us an email at pgadmissions@hull.ac.uk and your applicant ID number.

CAS

  • I’ve accepted my offer but my CAS hasn’t been issued yet – when will I receive it?

Your CAS will be issued once you have met all conditions and hold an Unconditional Firm place with us. You will need to complete the CAS questionnaire that is available in your portal. If you have not received this, please email CAS@hull.ac.uk. You also need to make sure you have paid the deposit required. Once we have received the deposit payment, we will issue a draft CAS to you, this will be available in your portal. You will need to check and either approve or report any errors via your portal. Once you have done this, we will issue you with your final CAS.

  • When is the deadline for me to get my CAS?

You need to meet all conditions of your offer and hold an unconditional firm accepted offer by the course start date quoted in your offer letter.

We are unable to guarantee CAS will be issued after the course start date we have given you; in some cases, such as where ATAS is required, the deadline for CAS issuance will be 3 weeks preceding your course start date.

  • What can I do to speed up getting my CAS?

If you haven’t had an offer from us yet, please be patient as we’re currently working to a turnaround to making decisions.

If you have received an offer, make sure to accept it and if it is conditional, to provide evidence you’ve met all conditions. You can do this by uploading certificates, ID documents, references and other documents to your online application account.

If you’ve met all conditions and accepted your unconditional offer, please ensure you have paid the required deposit amount to us.

If you’ve met all conditions, have an unconditional offer that you’ve accepted and have paid the deposit, we’ll get your draft CAS to you as soon as all payments have cleared. Please allow at least 3 days for a payment to clear before requesting your CAS.

If you have held any previous UK visas, please upload a copy of your BRP (front and back).

  • Where can I find the bank details to pay my deposit?
  • I cannot see how to pay my deposit in the MyHull portal – what can I do?

Please email pgadmissions@hull.ac.uk with your applicant ID.

  • Can I pay my deposit when I am holding a conditional offer?

Yes – you can pay your deposit as long as you have received an offer letter.

  • Why is my English language qualification not showing on my CAS?

As a University, we currently use our sponsor rights (HEI) to report to the UKVI that we have assessed your English language ability as being at the required B2 level or above. We report separately to the UKVI which test you have taken. It will only state on your draft ‘CAS: HEI Rights’ and this is correct. Please accept your draft CAS if all other fields are correct.

  • I have made a payment after my CAS has been issued, will I receive a new CAS?

If we have issued you with your final CAS and you make another payment, we do not issue a new CAS statement. Our Finance Team can update your UKVI record directly with the UKVI. You can contact Finance using the ‘Talk to Us’ feature in your portal, quoting your final CAS number.
