Learn in industry-standard facilities

Our students use well-equipped computer labs to learn how to use powerful numerical tools, such as Python, to tackle mathematical problems. Programming is an important aspect of our teaching and no previous experience is necessary.

Our campus also has our £4.5 million Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Modelling (DAIM) building, which houses the largest computational teaching space on campus.

The importance of data can be seen in almost every walk of life and our postgraduate degrees offer a route into this fast-paced industry for everybody.

If you've studied a module in maths, statistics, computing or data analysis on your undergraduate course, then you can apply to study it. Students have joined us from a range of STEM and non-STEM subjects – from English literature to computer science – and leave us ready to launch a career in the exciting world of data science and artificial intelligence.

We also offer a number of scholarships worth £10,000 each to support students from all backgrounds in the full-time study of the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Get up to £6,300 when you study maths at Hull

Our Gillian Stead Bursary rewards high performing students with a cash award worth up to £6,300.

It is automatically applied in your first year if you have the qualifying number of UCAS Tariff points and grades, and will continue for up to three years of study depending on your marks.

The bursary is named after our alumni Gillian Stead who graduated from Hull with a first class degree in 1976 and went on to teach maths at A level and at the Open University. This memorial bursary was set up by her father to support students of the subject she loved.
