SME Business Clinic

Help real businesses achieve real ambitions

Did you know there are over 30,000 SMEs in the Humber region?

And that, according to the Federation of Small Businesses, SMEs across the country contribute to around half of the UK’s total private sector turnover.

Through the Business School’s SME Clinic, you have the opportunity to help some of these SMEs achieve real targets, and real growth.

The Clinic is available to all final-year undergraduates and Masters students from the Business School, allowing you to take part in a consultancy project for a company and gain invaluable skills in preparation for graduate employment.

You will have the chance to work with a variety of SMEs, covering all sectors, and make a difference to how they operate and succeed.

But what sort of projects have our previous students been involved in?

Find out more below!

Helping local businesses identify new markets and grow

Our students have helped a variety of local businesses explore opportunities for growth and development.

Projects have included working with a fast-growing Hull company to identify new export markets for products, as well as ways to break further into the hospitality sector.

Our students worked with the business to understand how aware customers were of their products, and identified major potential avenues for expansion into new markets.

Working with businesses to develop new websites and promotional videos

When a local tech business approached our SME Clinic looking for help to develop a new website and promotional material, our students had the answer.

A team of students worked with the company on the new-look website, and helped plan for the production of a range of multimedia marketing content.

They also conducted detailed market analysis to help inform the promotion of new products.

Helping put people at the heart of business strategy

Our students have worked with a local software company to develop a business growth strategy to improve sustainability and work/life balance for employees, by expanding the client base and increasing the workforce.
