Our programmes enable you to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and adults. At Hull, Education, Teaching and Childhood Studies is part of the School of Education, which sits in the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education.

Undergraduate

  • Primary Teaching

    This degree is a direct route into entry-level primary school teaching. You'll benefit from our excellent links with Primary Partnership schools.

  • Early Childhood Education and Care (1 year top-up)

    Top up your foundation degree on a course that combines academic theory with fun and creative ways to encourage young children to participate in learning.

  • FdEd Early Childhood Studies

    This foundation degree is ideal for child-minders, pre-school learning leaders and early-years practitioners. Develop valuable knowledge while you work.

  • Early Childhood Studies

    This programme is fully-focused on employability, enabling you to move straight into the early years workforce or postgraduate teacher education.

  • Education Studies

    Make a real difference with work placements in schools and other settings – including the chance to study or undertake a placement abroad.

  • Education and Early Years (1 year top-up)

    Ideal for those aspiring for a professional role in the early education sector, this one-year course is a top-up for students with a foundation degree.

  • Education, Society and Culture (top-up) (part-time)

    Aimed at those working in an educational setting, you'll build on existing knowledge and understanding, examine educational issues and new ways of thinking

  • TESOL and Education Studies

    This qualification will allow you to teach in language schools around the world. It also includes the chance to study or undertake a placement abroad.

  • Learning and Teaching (Primary Education) (top-up)

    This course allows you to top-up to a full Honours degree as well as be recommended for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at Key Stages 1 and 2.

  • Working with Children, Young People and Families

    Students develop skills and knowledge appropriate to multi-agency working in a range of health, education and social care practice placements.

Postgraduate Taught

  • MA in Education and Digital Technologies

    Ideal for teachers and support staff interested in the application and impact of technologies in educational settings.

  • MA in Education, Inclusion and Special Needs

    Investigate the complexities around inclusion, methods to meet needs of all learners, focusing on those who might experience marginalisation in society.

  • MA in Education and Leadership

    Aimed at those responsible for the policy, provision or practice of leading learning, this degree focuses on developing effective learning environments.

  • MA in Education

    This degree gives teachers the skills, knowledge and leadership qualities to improve pupil development and achievement in schools.

  • MA in Education and Early Childhood

    This specialist programme focuses on policies, services, child development, early years pedagogy, and research in early childhood.

  • MA in Pedagogy and Practice

    Develop your existing qualifications or experience, focusing on a project you're passionate about. Research in your institution, supported by a mentor.

  • PGCE Secondary Physics

  • Subject Knowledge Enhancement: Maths

    The Maths Subject Knowledge Enhancement programme is aimed at graduates from any degree, who have been offered a place on an Initial Teacher Training programme.

  • Subject Knowledge Enhancement: French

    The French Subject Knowledge Enhancement programme is designed for graduate linguists who have been offered a place on an Initial Teacher Training course.

Our broad range of programmes means that you can concentrate on a particular area or age range, using advanced teaching methods taught by our expert staff whose research spans a range of fascinating subjects.

Primary_Teaching

You'll learn about innovations in education, from digital technologies to forest schools (thanks to a purpose-built environmental classroom at our botanical gardens).

Learning_Support

We offer a diverse range of routes into teaching. At undergraduate level, we offer several degrees with an additional qualification for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We have strong partnerships for initial teacher training and offer PGCE programmes at postgraduate level.

This means that our courses all come with fantastic opportunities to put your learning into practice in a place that suits your interests and specialisms, giving you the kind of practical experience that future employers value.

On many of our education degrees, you can opt to study for accredited Forest School certification. This prepares you to work with children outdoors, taking into account a range of additional needs and giving you a valuable extra qualification.
