Penny is an academic with more than 20 years of experience. She headed one of the UK's first medical informatics research groups in the 1990s.

She is also an award-winning novelist and was Chair of the Board of the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society, the largest writers’ organisation in the world.

Penny's teaching and research focus is on techniques for active reading, critical writing and creative writing. Find out more at
