Summary

A Registered Adult Nurse since 1991 Michelle has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both clinical nursing and teaching. She has held various clinical posts, in the fields of general surgery, trauma orthopaedics and anticoagulation. Most recently, this included senior roles with an educational and quality improvement focus including the roles of Teacher Trainer and Practice Development Nurse.

As part of her MSc in professional Practice Michelle carried out research into Registered Nurses knowledge and experiences of clinical supervision in the workplace. Michelle is currently completing a Doctor of Education and as part of this has completed research into student nurses experiences of social media activity within their peer groups and its effect on their wellbeing.

Michelle is a knowledgeable lecturer with experience of teaching and assessment across a number of undergraduate and post graduate nursing programmes.

Passionate about the apprenticeship route into nursing in 2022 Michelle was a founder member of the MYE Nursing Apprenticeship Forum, a regional network aimed at collaboration and sharing of best practice across nursing apprenticeship programmes. Michelle is currently Programme Director and also Admissions Tutor for the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) Apprenticeship Programme, roles she has held since 2020. Since May 2023 Michelle has also been Team Leader/line manager for the core team members on the Nursing Apprenticeship programmes. Michelle particularly enjoys working closely with apprentices, university colleagues and employer partners to continually develop the quality of the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) Apprenticeship Programme.

Michelle currently teaches and assesses on the BSc (Hons) Nursing (All fields) Apprenticeship Programmes and also BSc (Hons) Nursing (all fields) programmes. This is a combination of 7 different programmes which are co-taught.

Michelle is a module team member for all six Practice Modules (30 credits per module levels 4, 5 and 6)

and also the following theory modules:

Developing Professional Practice (20 credits level 5)

Leading and Managing care (20 credits level 6)

Preparing for Registration (40 credits level 6)

In addition Michelle teaches on the Apprenticeship Specific workshops on the BSc (Hons) Nursing (All fields) Apprenticeship Programmes
