After 25 years working in primary schools, culminating in 12 years of headship, John joined the University of Hull in September 2009.

During his time working in schools, he held many different positions – both within the schools he worked for and within the local authority as a member of consultative groups. That included work on headteacher development, ICT, educational visits and curriculum development.

John has also spent some time as a Curriculum Support Teacher, providing in-service training to school staff across the Humberside region.


Research Interests

  • Primary curriculum design (with specific work on English and subject integration)

  • The use of ICT to support learning in English in primary schools
