Summary

I graduated from the University of Bradford with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science in 2013 and a MSc Biomedical Science in 2014. I then went on to complete a BHF-funded PhD in Pharmacology under the supervision of Prof Tim Palmer and Dr Talat Nasim, specifically investigating "Prostanoid-mediated inhibition of IL-6 trans-signalling in pulmonary arterial hypertension: a role for suppressor of cytokine signalling 3". In 2019, I continued this research as a post-doc at the University of Hull, before becoming a Lecturer in Biomedical Science and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2021. I now focus more on pedagogical research and I'm particularly interested in student attainment and wellbeing.

Module lead for Basic Biology of Disease, Biomedical Science; Skills for Biomedical and Forensic Scientists, Biomedical Science and Forensic Science.

Teach on the MSc Biomedical Science, MSc Drug Development and Pharmacology, Non-Medical Prescribing and MBBS programmes.

Research interests

Vascular biology, inflammatory signalling, and regulation of pro-inflammatory signalling.

Also interested in student engagement, closing the attainment gap and PGR student wellbeing.
