Summary

Denise Maia Carter is a social anthropologist and lecturer in social sciences at the University of Hull with interests in the fields of digital life and media / cyberculture.

She has a strong research background in internet safety, having worked on the EU InSafe and the EU SimSafety Projects, identifying and advising on the safeguarding of children and young people.

Denise's most recent work has examined online radicalisation, extremism and terrorism.

She convenes modules on Cyberterrorism, Popular Culture, Cyberculture, and the Dangers and Delights of Online Life at undergraduate level, in both the UK and in Hong Kong.
