Amanda was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, which is in the Midwest of America. She attended Truman State University, a liberal arts institution ranked #1 value in the nation among public colleges & universities, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Italian Studies. In the summer before graduating, she worked in upstate New York at an all boys sports camp where she met her British husband.

In the 10 years since moving to the UK, Amanda has studied and worked at the University of Hull and developed a passion for embedding the use of student data into teaching and learning practices. After working in a number of roles within quality assurance and quality enhancement, she is now working as the Head of Academic Data in the Teaching Excellence Academy.

Outside of her professional life, Amanda coaches and plays for her local roller derby A team, Hull's Angels Roller Derby. She loves to travel, read, and spend time with her family and friends.

In Amanda's current role she works closely with staff and students leading the University's TEF preparations for both the provider and subject-level submissions. This involves developing and running briefing sessions, explaining and helping utilise TEF metrics and other forms of data, identifying and sharing best practices, as well as supporting colleagues to identify areas for evidence building within their own practice for future evaluation of teaching excellence.

Her role also involves leading a team of analysts in delivering data and insights to staff for the enhancement and celebration of best practice. The Academic Data Team manage and analyse student feedback across all levels of study covering module to faculty aggregations. This, alongside additional data from across the student journey, help the Team provide insights to teaching staff and colleagues to celebrate, promote and develop excellent teaching.
