Applied ethics
This research theme considers ethics, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and risk in production, consumption, digital, legislative, political and social activities. We interpret applied ethics broadly, as the application of ethical considerations, reasons, principles, values and ideals to any policy or practice (personal, social or professional) for the purpose of evaluating that policy or practice on ethical grounds.

Systems Thinking and Solutions
Our systems research develops and applies systems approaches to business, legislative, legal, policy and societal challenges, including the delivery of public services. Within this theme we address current and emerging global, national, local and sectoral challenges. Our fundamental and applied research here is concerned with advancing the understanding of systems and systemic phenomena in complex social-economic systems at all scales.

Government and Multi-level Governance
Our research addresses the challenges of government in a complex world. We are helping to understand major issues such as Brexit, political leadership and the capacity of governments to address major social issues in education, environment and economies. What sets us apart is our interdisciplinary approach and focus on how best to engage with governments to shape policy.
