Sustainable procurement

As a major local business organisation and part of the wider national and international higher education sector, the University's procurement and investment decisions have major socio-economic and environmental implications locally and globally.

A policy of sustainable purchasing and responsible investment will aim to mitigate the negative effects that the University's activities have on environment and people.

For more information about what this means in terms of how the University views its procurement and investment, please see the policies on the right hand side of this page.  If you are a member of staff who is involved in any purchasing, please read the document and incorporate those factors into the decision making process.

The University will continue to work with its purchasing partners, including the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium, to improve sustainable purchasing practice across the sector.

Environmental and Sustainable Purchasing Policy

The  Sustainable Procurement Policy is consistent with the University's Sustainability Policy and its Carbon Management Plan and shall apply to everyone who specifies and buys goods and services on behalf of the University

Policy on Socially Responsible Investment

As a result of the  Policy on Socially Responsible Investment the University of Hull expects its investment managers to take account of social, environmental and ethical considerations in the selection, retention and realisation of investments
