How much does a course cost?

For 2019 entry, our standard tuition fees for full time UK and EU students on a postgraduate taught course range from £7,000 to £9,100 per year. Check your course page to find your fee.

Standard fees for postgraduate research courses for 2019 entry are £4,327 per year. 

An inflationary increase may apply to subsequent years of study.

Fees for International students starting a postgraduate course in 2019 range from £14,000 to £16,600 per year (please check your course page to find the fee for your course). 

Some courses are subject to a non-standard fee. Please check your course page for information.


Postgraduate Loans

The Master's Loan provides up to £10,906 for taught and research Masters courses in all subject areas for students from England and the EU, while the Doctoral Loan provides up to £25,700 for PhD study. 

Here are the key facts:

  • Loans are not means-tested
  • Loans are available for full-time, part-time and distance-learning programmes (providing that part-time courses are at least 50% of the intensity of an equivalent full-time course)
  • Students aged under 60 are eligible
  • Repayments will be income contingent and made concurrently with undergraduate loans. Rates will be set at 6% of annual income over £21,000. You'll find more information here.

How much are living costs?

Average consumer prices, including rent, are 47% lower in Hull than in London* and significantly lower than in comparable university cities, which makes living costs more affordable. The location of our campus residences means that daily travelling costs are low (or non-existent) and shops are within easy walking distance.

The University offers a range of scholarships to help you with your studies. More awards available for 2019 entry will be added as the academic year progresses; please check back later in the year.

Graduate Studentship – available for Hull undergraduates progressing to eligible postgraduate taught programmes. Those eligible will receive an award worth £1,000 in the form of a tuition fee discount.

PGCE students can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan in the same way as an undergraduate student, plus depending on your chosen subject and degree classification you may receive a bursary or scholarship too.
