Planning your arrival

The exciting part - travelling to Hull! We've put together all the information you'll need to plan your journey. You can also book your place on our free pick-up service. We've also created a pre-departure guide to help you settle in to life in the UK.

Make travel arrangements

If you start your studies in September, Welcome Week starts on 16 September and teaching begins on 23 September.

Free arrival pick-up

We offer a free pickup service to all new international students who arrive at Manchester Airport on 13 September before 3pm. To sign up to the free pick up service please complete this form.

If you are arriving at Humberside Airport or Hull Ferry Port, please email us and we will provide you with a reliable taxi (at your own cost).

We also offer discounted train tickets from London Kings Cross to Hull on the 13 September, please email us for further information.

If your contract date starts on the 14th September (Westfield Court and The Courtyard) you will be able to move in on the 13th September however you will be charged the night rate of £15.

Attend a pre-departure briefing in your country (if possible)

A British Council pre-departure briefing can answer your questions and help you prepare for your move to the UK.

Pack your luggage and print off your yellow luggage labels. Travel to England!

Try not to bring too much heavy luggage - you will be able to get most things that you need in Hull.

If you are using our free pick-up service, you can bring two suitcases and one piece of hand luggage.

Make sure you attach your yellow luggage labels to your luggage!

Welcome! You've arrived in England!

Be collected free of charge from Manchester Airport, or make your own way to the university.

University staff and volunteers will welcome you. You will receive your accommodation keys and be taken to your accommodation.

There will be an orientation and briefing session and an enrolment for international students on 14 September. Further information will be provided nearer time.
