Key information

Semester dates

For 'standard' semesters, our semester dates for 2019 are TBC.

Contact your department directly for specific dates and non-standard semester dates (e.g. Hull York Medical School, and Health, Nursing and Midwifery programmes).

Money

Accommodation fees are paid in instalments in October, January and April, and coincide with student loan payments.

We take care of the fiddly bits, so you can concentrate on the important stuff – settling in and getting to lectures. Insurance, internet and utility bills are included in your rent with most properties, so there’s less for you to sort out. It makes budgeting easier, too.

We also offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to help with living costs.

Documents, forms and policies

From insurance certificates, to information about WiFi - here's everything you need to know.

Waiting list

If your preferred accommodation type is not available at time of application, you’ll be able to register one accommodation preference on a waiting list.

The waiting list will operate when the application process for first year applicants opens. Terms and conditions will apply.

Please note there is no guarantee that by registering on the waiting list you will be offered your preferred type of accommodation as a transfer to alternative accommodation from that previously offered is subject to vacancies arising across the accommodation portfolio.

Tips for applying ...

When applying for your accommodation, you'll be advised of the contract length which typically suits your academic course requirements.  All you have to do is choose the type of accommodation you'd like to live in.

  • Students who study drama or music often work irregular hours, including evenings – so self-catered, on-campus accommodation may be preferred
  • Hull/York Medical School students may be required to attend phases of tuition/observation work in the evening. Again on-campus, self-catered accommodation may be more suitable
  • Nursing students need longer contracts and are often best suited to a self-catered environment
