What a good place to be

Hull’s like nowhere else. Yes, we’ve got big ticket attractions. But it’s the hidden gems waiting around every corner – they’re the reason students fall in love with our city. And here are some of their favourites…

So many festivals, so little time

Every year, 30,000+ people come to watch 200 bands play at Humber Street Sesh. Pride in Hull is the region’s biggest LGBT+ festival. Then there’s Freedom Festival: a whole weekend dedicated to art, music and theatre.

Friends for life

University isn’t just about finding yourself — it’s about finding the friends who become part of your journey. Friends who also like that obscure k-pop band you were sure no one else had heard of. Friends who’ll stay up laughing at nothing with you until 3am. Who are there for you, no matter what. Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there’ll be like-minded people here — you just have to find them.

Find your extraordinary

Extraordinary can be a gold-medal-winning performance in front of millions, or simply being the first to talk in a roomful of strangers. We see it in everyone - it’s why we’re the Official University Partner of Team GB.

What does that mean for you? Exclusive events, guest speakers, placement and volunteering opportunities, and much more… 3

And now, we're also extremely excited to have five-times Olympic medallist and double Olympic champion gymnast Max Whitlock as our new ambassador – he'll be helping our students to discover just what it means to be extraordinary.

A room with a view...

...a view of 1,000+ trees, rose-filled lawns, ivy-clad red-brick buildings, and an adorable squirrel population. This is one of the oldest universities in the country, after all. But we’re not just about our history and heritage.

Living in our swish on-campus accommodation, you’ll also have our brand-new gym and sports centre on your doorstep. Plus bars, coffee shops (including Starbucks and Costa), a 7-storey library, a mini-supermarket and a nightclub.

So you won’t need to go rushing all over town to get to your lectures, play sport or get something to eat. Everything’s right here within easy reach. Oh, and speaking of taking it easy…

Do you know Hull’s one of the warmest cities in the north? You’ll know what we mean soon enough. When you’re sat basking in the sun among our trees, flowers and ivy … counting squirrels.

Taylor Court

Small, friendly, convenient. An established and close-knit community, Taylor Court offers the best value for money on campus.

Rose Bowl

This is where it all started. Arguably the most beautiful spot on campus, The Rose Bowl area is also one of the oldest: dating back to 1927.

The Pantry

The most popular place to grab lunch on campus. You’ll find food for every mood here – from hot and hearty meals, to lean greens and grains.

The price is right

“How will I afford to live?” One of the biggest questions you – and your parents – will ask before you head off to university. Here’s the good news…

Hull’s a really affordable city to live in. You’ll find your money goes a lot further here than in other cities, like London and York.

In fact, just take a look at how we compare:
