Inter-Library Loans

The Inter-Library Loans service enables you to get items related to your academic studies that we do not have in our own stock.  We may on

occasion buy an eBook to meet a request.  In a small number of cases it is not possible to get requested material.

Annual quota (1 August - 31 July) for requests funded centrally (subject to budget availability):
Undergraduate and Taught postgraduate students – 3 requests
Research postgraduate students – 12 requests
Academic staff – 12 requests
Associate Borrowers - will need to pay the charge as shown below

Charges for an Inter-Library Loan item are:
Secure electronic delivery (SED) documents -  £9.00
Photocopies  - £10.75
Loans   -   £14.75


Print chapters and articles - Hull campus
From December 2016, photocopies of book chapters and journal articles will be kept for collection from the library Reading Room.  If you would prefer to have the photocopies posted to your department or home address, please indicate this on the request form.

Requesting a PhD Thesis
If you require a PhD or other doctoral thesis from another UK Higher Education Institution please visit the website  EThOS is an electronic system from the British Library allowing individuals to discover, access and archive e-theses that are produced in UK Higher Education Institutions.

Secure Electronic Document delivery (SED) of Inter-Library Loan articles at the Brynmor Jones Library
Any Inter-Library Loan articles delivered to the Hull campus as Secure Electronic Documents will need to be opened using Adobe Digital Editions software.  Adobe Digital Editions will be available on the public PCs in the Brynmor Jones Library.
